The Lively Art!

myl: Lunch?
monz: Dieter's Plate from Jeff's
myl: Eh.
monz: Yum-Yum!
monz: go ahead, blog a quote
myl: (from today's NY Times) ""The message was clear. 'Boomers,' Mr. Novelli declared, 'are the future of the AARP.'"

We're doomed.

Spoken Like a True Bluesman!

Chicken Ceasar Salad from Bennigan's. And how was Monz rewarded for this move? "Fine going down, but I don't feel so good right now."

Catch Up on the Ketchup!

MYL was on haitus, again persuing the Midwestern literarti life (this time to Kalamazoo, MI, where the big three fast food chains must compete with local chains like "Hot 'n Now!"(to get the complete effect picture the "'n" as a lightening bolt). Here's what we missed:

Thursday: The Usual

Friday: An utterly forgettable Wendy's Classic Tripple w/ Cheese. (How forgettable? We had to resort to hypnosis to coax it out of the Monz).

Today: Chopped-up Chicken Pieces from Jewel, made by their brand new chicken roasting machine. "Perfectly overcooked - it's great!"

General Public!

Where's the tenderness? Not in today's full slab of ribs from Cochiaro's! The sauce was also an afterthought, just splashed on rather than part of a cohesive unit. Out of our mouths comes something spiteful!

Rainy Days and Reruns!

Always get us down, but we're not the Monz, who plans to enjoy another round of the homemade chilli. Yes, we know it saves him some bucks, yes, we know it saves a soupcon of wear and tear on Vicki. But after the editors last night enjoyed this exciting feast reheated home leftovers, no matter how yummy, just don't do it for us...

Home Cooking!

Nothin' beats somethin' lovin' from the oven, or in this case stove, as Monz and his better half whip up a big pot of chilli. Ground turkey (Jewel), organic beans (Whole Foods) and cut-up tomatoes and spieces (Whole Foods) combined in proportions like a classic live jazz riff: it may be extraordinary and you may never hear it again.

Hello Ruby Tuesday!

We have no idea what Monz had for lunch today. But we bet he'd appreciate this!

That Wacky Iraqi!

Monz had a club salad with blue cheese dressing. Blue cheese is hard to do right, but Monz said it was yummy, if a bit wattery on the whole. There was also spicy buffalo wings that smelled awfully spicy! But with all these Cobb salads of late, it has us at myl thinking of more exotic fare.

Smoke Doesn't Get In Your Eyes!

Not when someone else is fetching you a classic double steakburger with cheese platter from Steak and Shake. Tasty? Yes. Pricey? Yes.

Onions? Just Funion ya, Sunion!

Epiphanies at Portillo's? Why not, especially when you have a chili dog where the chili is just right (i.e., compliments, not competes with, the dog, doesn't soak the bun, etc.) Why not add a jumbo? But hold the oinons - raw is their only option.

We're Confused!

Monz reports that today's lunch, a roast beef sandwhich from the Jewel, was yummy, "but only because it was huge." ??? Now you'll get no mamby-pamby anti-supersize comments here, decrying how generous eateries are contributing to the alleged "obesity problem." But if portion size = yumminess, Old Country Buffet would be in the Zagat guide! That's just our opinion - it's our blog, but it's Monz' lunch! It just goes to show, when it comes to the Monz, size matters!

Not the Usual!

A cobb salad, to be sure, but from Calluta's! And a meat companion as well (bbq rib tips in place of the grilled chicken), though the salad was so tasty and filling that most of dem bones are coming home!

To Each According to His Need!

Monz ventures to the China House for what he thinks is a new twist on an old theme: Pork Almond Ding. But wait - more than the beast has changed - the sauce is different than the chicken almond ding! Monz was so happy he shared his rice with his proletariat comrades. Viva la revolucion!

Wit's Soul!

The Usual.

The Education of Little Tree Monz!

Bennigan's BBQ ribs were so yummy that they apparently gave the Monz an appreciation of Native American ways. When asked how he liked them, Monz replied "Whatever beast went into this feast, thank you!"

Mouthing at the Foam!

Want to a shockingly surprising yummy treat that won't wreck your diet (lowfat or atkins)? Then try this hand operated milk frother which will make your skim or 2% milk so creamy and dreamy you simply won't believe it. Neither electric frothers or manual frothers without the plastic doohickey on the bottom can do the trick - trust us! We were cynical too until we tasted the rich, silky end result.

Oh, Monz had a roast beef on white from the Jewel. We don't know how it was but he didn't sound too enthusiastic.
