Help!
When the blog was younger, so much younger than today,
We never needed anybody's help in any way.
But now these days are gone, we're not so self assured,
Now we find the scanner's shot and we're heading out towards Door...

...County that is. The editors have been battling technical difficulties and emergency Monday travel to Madison, Wisconsin. Thus, we ask the Monz to nobly fill in for us on Monday.

Better late than never: Friday Monz had a warm lunch at Bacci's: spaghetti pomodoro with bruschetta. Good as always.

I thought Madison was in DANE County....
It is -- the line is that we were heading towards Door, which from Chicago (or Waukegan) it is - Accuracy Editor
If you were going to Madison, you were not going "towards" Door, since you would be going northwest, away from Door County.

While we genuinely appreciate the learned advice, the editors stand behind the ME. Admittedly it's complicated, but b/c the editors prefer the I94 route to Madison(at least if they can visit the downtown Milwaukee Public Library, Sollie's (sp?) Grille, and/or Alterra on the Lake), and because I94 is the fastest route wrt going to Madison from Waukegan, we still believe the song is technically accurate.

Why? Because if you look on a map you see that there's a slight curve along Lake Michigan between the myl offices in Chicago and Door County. In other words, Door County (in its southernest areas) is "straight up" from Chicago. But you can't drive "straight up" because this would put you in Lake Michigan, and only Speed Racer's Mach 5 can drive in water! Thus, for the first part of the trip (as referenced in the song) one could say the journey is "towards Door").

That said, the ME prefers to rely on the old saw "creative license"...
