Take It Away Monz!
A clearly exhausted group of editors stumble to the Monz guest blogging finish line with a pleasing graphic and information on Monz' lunch.

4/28: En route to the Waukegan Post Office, China Garden: Hot Sour soup and Ma Po Tofu (to compare to Fong's). Tasty but yummy < NaCl content.

4/29: Morning errands result in a early run to "Yo! Tone-ayyy!"'s Subs for a whole wheat with veggies with lots of muffaletta and hot hot peppers on the side. "Only negative: asked for no O's and received O's. But easy enough to remove and yumminess was restored." Still, Tone-ayyy, wtf?

4/30 Curry Mushroom with rice, Tofu spring rolls and a Flax braid from Starbucks. It qualified for the venerated.

Yee-Ha!
The editors went horseback riding -- specifically the Cowboy Trail Rides sunset ride with BBQ dinner -- and though they enjoyed it immensely, they also engaged in a friendly WWMD debate. Would Monz, if he were an adult first-time rider, decline to wear a helmet and be spared the silent ridicule by children and elders alike? Or would he protect the family zircraniums? Most opted for the latter and all enjoyed a beautiful sunset ride and tasty bbq steak dinner (with salad, beans, potato, and fire-seared marshmallows for desert).

Meanwhile, Monz made his way through driving sheets of rain to Leno's for a 10" veggie, taking away the onions and adding some jalapenos, jusdawayhelikesit.

READER ALERT The editors are taking an institute day Monday and will be double-blogging on Tuesday.

Going Posh on Your Palate!

The luxury resort on the Las Vegas strip where the editors are attending their anual convention offers a counter-intuitively tasty and refreshing drink for free in the lobby: cucumber water. Give it a try!

Nothing counter-intuitive about this: Fong's for ma po tofu and hot and sour soup. "Not bad. Not great."

Where the Customer Comes First!

As the editors continue their convention in Las Vegas, they are heartened by Monz' simple munificience, as good friend Scoe drives up and stops by the office and Monz takes him to Bacci's for a yummy lunch of bruschetta and linguine pomodoro alla romana. We wish the old battleax who held up the "Deuce" (double decker public bus) in downtown Las Vegas last night as she positioned herself for the best seat back to the strip would have shown similar goodwill towards her fellow man and either stayed in her original seat or grabbed a hand-rail!

Find Yourself a "Place" in the Sun!

The word has come down from on high: Subway is no longer "the place," especially after today's merely sustaining lunch as Monz wields trial brilliance. What will be the new "place"? Lively philosophical debate has already ensued!

Speed Lunch!

While the editors are out exploring the vast, ever increasing American desert, I am prepping for trial. So I had a quick lunch from Subway: foot long veggie delite on wheat. For a quick lunch, it did its job.

We Can Dream!
(Don't hate us MG!)

Monz and Mrs. Monz go to until-then-there's-always Bacci's for a sample of the new pasta sauce: Monz had bruschetta and linguine pomodor ala romana! "Yum!!!!" (Monz reports the new sauce has more cheese in it and is consequently less runny and messy, but yummy)

The editors are off to the anual lunch bloggers convention in Las Vegas so bear with irregularities in blogging, but blogging will continue!

If Anything Goes Wrong, Monz Will Be Your Constant!

(If you're lost, it's because the title is from "Lost"). The Place for a footlong veggie delite. "New "artist" - not so amazing 'wich."

180 Degrees!

What's the antithesis of Monz' yummy lunch? This! (don't miss the mp3). But don't feast on Fong's for hot sour soup and ma po tofu. Maybe a bologna sandwich or something.

Trust Us!

Bacci's for creamed portobello and salad.

We had a great "mushroom cult" post in the works for Monz' lunch and our computer equipment failed us during Hell's Kitchen. Call us "donkeys"!

Half of What We Need To Know We Learned From Monz!

The other half we learned from The Hills, like, "You gotta have more than one hustle!" (We don't know how the urban dictionary defines "hustle" but in this context it means profession/moneymaker).

Monz hustles back home from D.C. and before hustling out the door rustles-up some vegatable pizza.

Georgia On Our Minds!

Why? Well, back in the 1970's there was a wave of violence in the poorer parts of Chicago. Murder after murder, it just wouldn't stop. Then mayor Jane Byrne made a dramatic move, moving her residence to one of the neighborhoods, reasoning that the police would follow her there. She forthrightly admitted she took the idea from the mayor of Atlanta (we forget which one -- Andrew Young?).

We bring this up because Monz (and Mrs. Monz) have raised the bar by selflessly venturing to sketchy D.C. sans any protective bubble. And still managed to work in lunch (Friday: club sandwich at the American Grill, Saturday: tapas at Jaleo including a very mouthwatering-sounding toasted bacon and date thing and gaspatcho.

We Could Be Heroes Just For One Day!

Monz, too busy saving our nation in Washintong D.C., leaves us without a lunch report. So, today, and today only, we have a new hero!

Life is but a Hack!

As the Monz prepares to save the na...leave for his CLE trip, we play the role of a jolly rolly polly sprint santa and give you the ultimate gift. Monz may not have had the ultimate lunch, but his cucumber avocado sushi, tofu spring rolls, veg biryani (all from Whole Foods) and some clementines and and a minneola (apparently from somewhere else) were much better than yesterday's Hussey's!

There He Goes to Save the Day!
Offically speaking, Monz is leaving for Washington D.C. for a local bar association trip and CLE. Unofficially speaking, Monz has been summoned to help right the nation's ship. You doubt it? Well consider this: the patch pictured above was actually produced by a black ops government program.

Officially speaking, Monz returned to Husseys for golden vegetable soup and a swineless blt. "As mediocre as I remember."

The Sincerest Form -- Part Ten!

No matter how many times usurpers talk up lunch, there's only one Monz! And only one Monz would take a road trip to the corner of County and 120 for to the place that replaced La Huitzuqunea: Rancho El Michoacano. Tres tacos with beast removed (though a suspicious beast-taste lingered). The tacos were good, with jalapenos on the side!

Clark McDerment!

Today Monz lunched at Bistro 17 after a protracted absence, during which time the resturaunt came under new management, who made substantial modifications in decor and utilities. Monz ordered a cobb salad and pronounced it "pretty good."

Guardian of Language and Its Use!

Truth will out! Yesterday Monz attempted to quell the raging fire of a huge busy day with a quick trip to Fong's for vegetable lo mein, which was tasty going down, but a tad too greasy so it lingered longer than it should have.

Today, Monz brings an important report hot off the fax while he was in court to Bacci's for a quiet sit down lunch to peruse it. He had bruschetta and a non-menu salad involving apples and other garden vegetables and a light citrusey dressing. The lunch was good, the report....?

Meanwhile, the Travel Editor (TE) booked tickets today for a trip to Las Vegas. The TE and Monz got to discussing the trip, in which they agreed that the pathetic, gutteral yelp "Vegas, Baby!" has not only become a cliche, it's become disgustingly reflexive. Thus, we propose that this phrase be replaced by its opposite: "Vegas, Daddy!" or "Vegas, Mama!" depending on preference and applicable genders. Brilliant and genius, if we do say so ourselves.

The Joke Is On Us!

No lunch report! And if this leaves you, as it does us, feeling so isolated, so alone in this cold, cold world filled with so much non-yumminess, we can only suggest that you find a friend.
