Should Old Lunchspots Be Forgot And Never Brought To Mind?!

We have late-breaking news that has the power to shake the very foundations of monzyummylunch! It has been decided that begining in 2004 Monz and his coworkers will bring their own lunches to work!!! Will this change Monz' menu? Will he be doing more cooking? More ordering? This much we know: something will come to pass!

Yesterday: The Usual.
Today: Father and Son's Pizza (office festivities).

Master and Commander!

Today's lunch of roast beef sandwich from the Jewel was a protent of the stormy lunch seas gathering around the Northwest side (more detail would be an overshare, trust us). Mutiny against the prevailing paradigm has grown from a whisper to a frontal challenge to karmic authority! And if it takes hold, Monz' lunch will never be the same! Stay tuned, or be a landlubber!

Endless and Bottomless!

Is the Monz' generosity as the company prepares to dive into the anual Christmas Feast at the Olive Garden. It is true that there will be pasta, there will be chicken, there will be sauces, there will be heavily seasoned salads of kaleidescope colors and verily it will be yummy!

It's No Secret!

That Monz' lunch at Wendy's wasn't too satisfying, so let's pretend Monz and his better half went to the Walnut Room at Marshall Field's, ordered the Chicken Pot Pie and indulged in a desert of warm apple pie with light cinnamon ice cream.

When Will It End?!

Monz' trailblazing, that is! Just can't stopping himself, Monz orders Jeff's new item: Chili dog and char-broiled super dog with tons of sauerkraut, no onions. Alas it wasn't too filling and Monz found himself noshing on carmel corn all the livelong day.

Note to our faithful readers: Monz will be having joy, fun, and a soupcon of a season in the sun this weekend, hence there will be no myl reports until next week (we expect Tuesday). Good eating!

He Da Man!

In case you didn't hear, Monz didn't let the demonic forces at Martyrs stop him - he drove for miles on end in the teeth of a winter storm to a foreign jurisdiction, overcame traffic obstacles, and took in last night's Hot Tuna gig. Hey Budweiser, that's true!

Bennigans has significantly improved its take-out service and now when you order your ribs you get a free side salad, and instead of throwing the ribs into a flimsy styrofoam container they add special paper, and they pre-cut the ribs to maximize lunctime efficiency. The ribs themselves were just "falling off the bone yummy." However, they did forget (again!) the side of cole slaw. Overall a thumbs-up. And Monz deserved it!

Pay Yer Rates!

No lunch news today, as Monz was paying his respects, paying some dues, and possibly paying the piper. In this absence, why not check out some other blogs?

Dum-dum De-dum-dum, Dum-Dum!

Green olives are the thing to add
To a beef sandwich less you make Monz mad
Amy, are you eating all that excess beef?
Give it to Monz and make his lunch a treat

(dum-dum de-dum dum)
On guard!
(dum-dum de-dum dum)
(dum-dum de-dum dum)
Monz: "Prepare!"
(dum-dum de-dum dum)
Fresh air!

This was his lunch
On it he did munch
Green olives, they were there!

dum-dum de-dum-dum dum-dum!

Martyred Monz!

Today Monz will be dining on a classic tripple with cheese from Wendy's, compimented by a large bowl of chilli. But it won't be tasty. No fault of Wendy's but of Martyr's, a once-proud establishment that denied the Monz a seat AND a drink, and made him want to holla "P.F.M.F.!" The scars will not heal soon.

Starbucks alert: lunch-serving Starbucks have an interesting item: a Holiday Turkey Sandwhich which consists of turkey, cranberry sauce, cream cheese, and turkey stuffing (!) on wholegrain bread. Yummy, interesting, and presumably for a limited time only.

Who Needs Zagat?!

Today Monz shows solidarirty with a people's quest for freedom by ordering Chicken Egg Foo Yung from Chinese House on Belmont. Of course, tonight Monz and his better half will be attending the Jorma Kaukonen/Jack Casady recital. At last night's recital Mr. Kaukonen gave a resturant recommendation - the Mexican establishment across the street. Monz had been considering Grizzlies Lodge, but as he told myl, "I'm going wherever Jorma tells me to go!"

Back to the Egg!

"So dude, what did you have for lunch?"
"West Egg - their ungodly spicy chili."
"But wait, you like that, right?"
"Oh yeah! Spicccccccce!"

It's Action!

Cocharios ==> always a gamble. BBQ Beef ==> new item. And thus the wheel spins. And the result is........?

We're All Mixed Up!

Jeff's...ah, dieter's plate! What, no? Ah, gyros platter! Huh? Ok, pray tell, what? Ohhhhh! Chilli dog and char dog. But always, always yummy!

Great Minds Think Alike!

(Friday Repost) Chicken Ceasar Salad from Bennigan's. Said Monz, "I'm *$#@%! sick of these things." And as the leader of the intervention on that AT&T M-life commercial says, "Thanks dude. Because I didn't want to have to say it."

Cease Fire!

While the world breathlessly awaits what may come of Monz' principled stand in the face of overwhelming opressive forces, a client comes to the rescue and buys the office lunch! Father and Sons Pizza. And like that ditzy chick who stole the trailer park guy's citibank credit card and bought the pricey leather bra, who cares, it's free!

The Un-Hunger Strike!

The usual.

But it would have been a highly unusual, highly tragic empty stomach for Monz, as he followed in the footsteps of our founding fathers and took a stand against his coworker's KFC tyranny. But an angel named Vicki came to the rescue.

Down the Hatch!

Our dashing hero dashed straight out of court (victorious, of course) and straight into the West Egg. Proving they are more adapt at breakfast than lunch, the flock served up a bowl of chilli hastily prepared, but spicy and ultimately satisfying.

Where's the Beef?!

No need to ask when Monz is jumping back into the grind - you just knew that he'd go for something primal, something meaty, something like...rare roast beef from the Jewel (made zestier with mustard that Monz slathered on himself). We were elated, until we heard the following heartbreaking report: "but I'm still hungry..."
