Kinda Like Yamilla Diaz!

Gyros from Jeff's - "spicy and satisfying!"

Looking Up!

Cobb Salad from McDonald's. But somehow better this time - more blue cheese, brighter, livelier. Leave it to the Monz to show us that even when you're down in a rut things can be looking up!

Mmm, Toasty...Not!

It was Quiznos' turn today, but not for a sandwich but for a ceasar salad. The result? Not exactly bad but "about as uncreative and uninteresting as you can get and still be lunch." Ouch!

We Miss You Chris Farley!

"Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!" That's what we were saying to ourselves today at myl after Monz told us about his almost-yummy lunch. "California Cobb Salad from McDonalds" he said. "Adequate - definitely not bad for the money." Our hearts leapt - did he get the idea from us? Were we poets and didn't even know it? "Naw, it's the only place Vicky would go to!"

We could not reach the Monz today and do not know what Monz had for lunch! We suggest consulting with the paranormal source of your choice!

Riddle Me This!

What do Willie Nelson, Aerosmth, Boyz II Men, Bob Dylan and the Monz have in common? They're all ON THE ROAD AGAIN! Sadly Monz' current sojourn north has imperiled his yummy lunch - he may or may not get to wolf something down. Hope he checked out this link before he left! If there is any news we will post an update.

Foo Fighter!

The Chinese House on Belmont is as nondescript as its name. Generic building, generic menu. But if you order the pork egg foo yung like the Monz, you'll be treated to a delectable combination of pork, eggs, veggies and spices, fried to a firm patty of yumminess.

He's King Burger In Reverse!

Have you seen those Burger King commercials for their new Chicken Caesar Club Sandwich which say "it's a salad in a sandwich"? Monz turns the table by having a sandwich in a salad! Bennigan's club salad that is. In true modest fashion, Monz refused to tout his postmodern deconstructionist triumph, humbly offering that the salad was "good, refreshing, a change of pace."

Suitman! Suitman!

All partners are not created equal. He learned that lesson pretty quickly - about a week after his election when, for the first time, he reviewed the firm's expense account. And now he saw why. Seated in the middle of the dimly lit, ultra-pricey downtown fish resturant, he awaited the return of Mr. BIG CHEESE, whose BIG CHEESE CELLPHONE kept cutting out, forcing B.C. to step outside for a moment. He looked at the menu - "My God!" he thought, "in college I could feed myself for a week for the price of the Lake Superior Whitefish alone." BIG CHEESE stepped in just as the waiter had returned to serve the meal. He took a bite - ew! - the fish had a gummy consistency and while it wasn't exactly cold, it wasn't pipin' hot either. "Oh *#$!" In dwelling on the fish, he had stopped paying attention to BIG CHEESE and now struggled to regain the thread of the conversation. But he had one last food-related thought: "Damnit, I wish I was having a turkey-bacon club sandwich from Jeff's. Like the Monz!"

We Wuz Robbed!

Because Monz wuz robbed - twice! There was some kind of beef sandwhich from some kind of grocery, but the joy is gone - they not only took Monz' stuff, they took our delight in relishing in Monz' relish.

Sauce Saves the Day!

Here's a name we haven't heard before: Cocchiarro's. Monz ordered the Rib/Chicken "BBQ" combo. Ribs, tough. Chicken, not barbequed - fried, with sauce slapped on. But this smokey sweet sauce saved the day, or at least the lunch.

Hormel? Or Hell?

The meatloaf that makes you dead meat! It took but two small slices of this prefab pefridy to waylay the Monz! Can this damn spam on the lam! Hopefully Monz can battle it's evil effects with the mighty or else it's tapiocca city for tomorrow's post!

Simple Elegance!

"Today I had a full slab of ribs from Bennigans, and it was yummy!" To add anything more would make us like a bad schoolboy in the back row.

A Little Bird Told Us!

That Monz enjoyed two traditional dogs from Jeff's, with the standard fixins plus...sauerkraut? We thought Monz doesn't like sauerkraut! Hmm - the plot (and the fixins) thickens!

Mistaken Assumption!

Another round of chopped-up chicken pieces from the Jewel. "They overcooked the chicken, so I felt really good about the lunch." shhh - leave him to his bliss!

International Bright Young Thing!

Again looking beyond the border (theme) for ribs, Monz snagged a full slab of bbq beast from Bennigans. Way better than the mighty fine Colluta's - just wait till Monz makes it down to Memphis!

Happy Meal!

Kabbob from Twins - need we say more? Probably not, but we will note that when we spoke to Monz for today's report he exclaimed "happy!" four times during the interview!

Mayo Can't Cut the Mustard!

Back to McDonald's for two Chicken McGrills, but... Something was missing. Maybe it was the absence of the Russian Mafia. Maybe mayo has lost some of its alure. For whatever reason, the experience was a little joyless. Let's hope someone or something breaks this losing streak soon!

12 Wings, 11 Herbs!

It was a trip to the good Colonel today as Monz munched on a dozen original recipe wings from Kentucky Fried Chicken (they haven't fooled us old-timers with their KFC moniker). Familiar yet exciting, these wings made their reputation soar in Monz' eyes!

Corned in the U.S.A.!

An American classic, Corned Beef, not done particularly well by Jewel. For starters, the beef was suspect. Worse, the whole enterprise was a bit on the "pale side" - white bread, white cheese (swiss).

Prose - aic!

Un#$%#@#-believable! Monz was prepared to grace us with a haiku poem dedicated to today's lunch offering, but the Cobb salad from Coluta's just didn't provide enough inspiration. Nevertheless, we here at monzyummylunch want to leave you with something. So here it goes:

Roses are red
Violets are blue
This Cobb salad was kinda yummy
And inexpensive too
